I predominantly use traditional techniques in my work because of the hands-on approach and playful quality you’ll receive in the outcomes of painting, model making and printmaking. In this past year I have made work surrounding themes on environments, in each project I have focussed heavily on the feeling a space gives you and how to portray this mood through different forms of art.
My main project was a children’s book called Phoebe Flew. I wrote the story about a young girl whose imagination allows her to dance and express herself. I also interspersed paper model projects where I modelled real places to highlight the effects of lockdown and not being able to travel to those spaces. Lastly, I did a range of paintings that are based on my observations from in and around Edinburgh.
