Bio

I am a creative thinker with a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of caring for the environment, enthusiasm for innovation, brilliant ideas and strong technical skills that I have developed over the last 5 year of my education.

I am very passionate about biophilic design development and its healing potential when dealing with mental health issues. Throughout projects I have been working on I have focused on using natural or sustainable materials, organic shapes, colours while acknowledging the history of buildings I was designing interiors for. I think that interior design can improve our health in highly urbanised built environments. I also believe that interior design can introduce a positive impact within societies, boost mental health and address climate change issues which I am passionate about finding creative solutions to!

Project Description

This project is aiming to explore ways on how interior design can respond to mental health issues that impact student’s daily life. It also explores the theme of biophilia and remenwing human connectedness to nature within a built environment which can positively impact students' well- being and improve their overall mental health. This is a proposal of an interior design for a multi functional student centre meant for relaxation. Students will be able to participate in a variety of activities such as yoga, meditation, gardening or simply relax having a cup of tea with friends or in private. These are the most natural and efficient methods in helping prevent stress and developing issues related to mental health that students experience after starting University.

Main Space - bar and entrance

Vibrant bar tiles used to define the bar in the space and to match similar floor tiles in the lobby space. They also reflect on the Victorian history of the building and original tiles in the space.

Marmoleum flooring is carbon neutral and looks like natural marble. It feeds into the theme of biophilia and creates a warm, earthy feel in the space. There are two different colours to distinguish between spaces; a minimal bar area and a more eclectic part of the interior garden. The soft contrast of its refined marbled structure gives a gentle feel which sets the stage for a calm and soothing interior.

Steel mesh as a structure for benches, tables and also protective structures for indoor small gardens in the building. It was inspired by a steel rod bench by Japanese designer Ryuji Nakamura taking his inspiration from Impressionists paintings.
