My practice primarily focuses on mortality and the agony of the human condition, that all living things must die. I am in constant purgatory, somewhere between reality and escapism. Between life and death.
I gained a fear of the prospects of illness and impermanence. Seeing someone on the edge of life is a daunting and shocking experience which imprints how fragile our existence is. As a result, a lot of my works are either dark and ethereal-looking or loud, neon art pop-inspired imagery.
I have taken inspiration from black and white medical scans, taking that aesthetic and transforming them into a brighter and less intimidating photography and collage imagery. Giving a layer of escapism and superficiality which protects me from the fear of illness and mortality.
