During 2020, the Black Lives Matter Protest and my own bodily experience with racism during the pandemic inspired me to design a production which explore racial equality and send the message of ‘love&peace’. My version of the Hairspray Musical takes place in a bright and colourful futuristic cityscape, an exotic planet in the parallel universe away from Earth. A unique definition of 'futurism' is created through the combination of 1960s’ countercultures and contemporary aspects. In addition, the characters are wearing exaggerated wigs or headpieces to tie-in with the original 'Hairspray' production.
Tracy is the protagonist of the play, a pleasantly plump teenager who attends Patterson Park High School. She has an optimistic, easy-going and bubbly personality. She is a chubby girl who loves singing and dancing, especially love to watch Corny Collins Show. Tracy is not afraid to be herself and stand up for what she believes in. Always on top of the latest trends. Her ultimate goal is to integrate the Corny Collins Show and spread the message of 'love & peace' to the world.
A new musical from the Black Butler musical series, adapted from the Emerald Witch arc in the Black Butler manga series by Yana Toboso. Targeting at teenage and young adult audiences, the objective is to create a dark Victorian spectacular which combines fantastical and historical elements. There are two settings with the story, the '1880s reality' and the 'fabricated Renaissance world'. The story also taken place across England and Germany. The story is about the contention between rationality and sensibility, the good and the evil. There is no complete black and white when it comes to humanity. Humanity is complicated, no one is 100% rational or sensible, and no one is 100% good or evil.
Sieglinde Sullivan is the 13-year-old Emerald Witch and liege lord of the Werewolves' Forest. She manages an obscure village named Wolfsschlucht within the forest. Unbeknownst to her initially, Sieglinde is the test subject of the Emerald Witch Education Project, where the German military deceives her to invent chemical weapons.
She is intelligent, forthright and devoted to protect her villagers. She has not left the Werewolves' Forest since her birth, and therefore inquisitive about the outside world. She has a desire to step outside the forest but is forbidden by her care takers. Additionally, she practices foot binding, in accordance with the Emerald Witch tradition. Due to this custom, she is unable to walk properly and travels in a wheelchair.
