About this project
Helena’s final project was based on adapting a novel by Deborah Cadbury entitled ‘Queen Victoria’s Matchmaking’, into a period drama renamed ‘The Royal Mob’. Helena focused specifically on the chapter surrounding Victoria’s involvement in the marriage between Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia.
For her final costume make, she redesigned the outfits from Nicholas and Alexandra’s 1894 wedding portrait. Alexandra’s costume is a blend of traditional Russian court dress with the fashion silhouette of the 1890s.
