Becky Brewis
“It feels like some air has been let in at the end of an airless year. I was worried about showing work that is about the materiality of surface in a digital format so it feels like a real achievement to have had my work engaged positively by the curators.”
The Collection is acquiring two small pieces, a drawing and a mixed media embroidery.
My textile work holds pictorial composition in tension with fleshy materiality. I like how when working with fabric there is always the question of what to do with the edges; whether to tuck them, or hem them or leave them frayed and the surface more fragile and at risk of being undone.”
